A Thai bar owner sold two girls for sex, charging nearly double for a child. The human trafficker took advantage of the minors’ vulnerabilities and used sextortion to coerce them into providing sexual services.After receiving a tip about one of the children, ATPD in Thailand requested help from O.U.R. Within days, one of our operations teams completed a field investigation, finding the minor in question to be working at the bar along with two others.This finding quickly sparked an ATPD operation, assisted by O.U.R. personnel. Three individuals were rescued, including the two minors, and placed in a shelter to receive essential care and protection. Authorities apprehended the bar owner.He / she pleaded guilty to human trafficking charges and was sentenced to three and a half years of prison time plus required survivor restitution in the amount of 250,000 baht, which equals nearly $7,000.Become a recurring donor today to help fund more operations like this one! https://lnkd.in/gpH4b-WN

In late 2023, 12-year-old “Nora” endured a horrific sexual assault. Courageously, she told her mom what happened. Upon taking her to a hospital for medical care, Nora and her mother met a doctor who previously worked with O.U.R.The doctor reached out to O.U.R. and our team immediately funded Nora’s medical treatment and contacted the local police, determined to help bring the predator to justice. With O.U.R.’s assistance, authorities identified and arrested the local man suspected of assaulting Nora.Recently, in an amazing step toward healing, Nora returned to school. To ensure she would not be alone on her first day, members of the O.U.R. Aftercare team were there to offer their support. Equipped with her new school supplies and uniform, she walked into class with a smile on her face. In West Africa, a trafficker lured a 19-year-old into a brothel under the pretense of offering her a job in a nearby country. Instead, upon her arrival she was kept under lock and key, forced to have sex with customers, and beaten when she refused. After making a bold escape, a kind-hearted local offered the survivor housing and helped her contact local police. While speaking with authorities, she shared that other teenagers were also being sexually exploited by the trafficker. Upon request, O.U.R.’s regional team assisted the local police with strategic advice and logistical support to conduct surveillance on the trafficker and brothel in question. Less than two weeks later, police arrested the suspect. Charged with human trafficking, the offender now awaits trial. The O.U.R. Aftercare team arranged lodging for the survivor with a partner aftercare home and remain at her side while she bravely prepares to give her testimony in the suspect’s court hearing. A massive 330,000 visitors are expected to travel to “Sin City” for the 2024 Super Bowl, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. Nevada currently has the third highest rate of human trafficking in the country. In 2021, 571 tips were received by the National Human Trafficking Hotline, and 201 cases were identified involving a total of 296 victims, the majority being women and children.So, what impact does the Super Bowl have on these numbers?
