Born March 9, 1952, he was the son of Robert and Madonna (Miller) Nelson. He was a 1980 graduate of Indiana University and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife, Laura Larimer; one daughter, Cassandra Nelson of Bloomington; his father, Robert Nelson of Lakeland, two brothers, Clifford Nelson of Des Plaines, Ill.

and Ken Nelson of San Jose, and two sisters, Yolanda Nelson of Denver, Colo. and Donna Hannakamp of Wonder Lake, Ill. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at University Baptist Church with the Rev. John Vanderzee officiating.

Burial will be at West Cemetery in Pittsville, Ill. There will be a private family visitation. William P. Sears William P. Sears, 78, of Bloomington, died Saturday at his residence.

Arrangements are pending at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home. Ernest Gaither, Jr. LINTON Ernest Gaither, 75, of Linton, died Friday at the Richard Roudebush VA Hospital of Indianapolis.

Born Feb. 13, 1923, in Linton, he was the son of Ernest Washington and Nellie (Buckner) Gaither. He had worked as an auto parts manager. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mary Isabelle (Brogan) Gaither; two sons, David Andrew Gaither of Linton and Mark Anthony Gaither of Charleston, S.C.; two daughters, Susan Darlene Russell of Linton and Elizabeth Ann Gaither of Terre Haute; one brother, Paul Gaither of Linton; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Jackson of Hot Springs, grandchildren and one -grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Gaither. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Welch Cornett Linton Chapel with the Rev. Francis Plew officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted.

'Bud' Brown MARTINSVILLE James S. "Bud" Brown, 80, of Martinsville, died Thursday at Heritage House Convalescent Center. Born Sept. 2, 1917, in Tip Top, Ky, he was the son of William L. and Lucie (Scheible) Brown.

He had retired in 1987 as an estimator at the Indiana Insurance Company. He had also been owner of Martinsville Auto Company. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. His memberships include First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 74 Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Martinsville Park Board, Martinsville Noon Lions Club, American Legion Lodge 230, VFW Lodge 1257, Martinsville Elks Club and Glenns Valley Conservation Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lois D. Brown; one son, James F. Brown of Manhattan Beach, two daughters, Barbara Boys and Susie Maxwell, both of Martinsville; one sister, Nellie Harrigan of Bloomington; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Brooks. Services will be 10:30 a.m.

Merle F. McKinney MARTINSVILLE Merle F. "Mac" McKinney, 67, of Martinsville, died Friday at Morgan County Memorial Hospital. Born Nov. 25, 1930, in Loogootee, he was the son of Charles and Mary Evelyn (Arvin) McKinney.

He had retired in 1980 after 25 years with the Indiana State Police as a lieutenant and coordinator of investigation for central Indiana. During those years, he also served as commander of the Bloomington and Putnamville State Police posts.
