🥚 Ingredients

I simplified this recipe so that you can make this within minutes and save time prepping these deviled eggs.

You will need 8 ingredients and about 20 minutes tops to make your own batch of deviled eggs with jalapeños.

  • Hard Boil Eggs
  • Jalapeño Peppers — with or without seeds, chopped. Remove the seeds and they will be not all that hot. The heat highly depends on the jalapeño pepper.
  • MayonnaiseFrom the jar or with homemade 5 minute mayo.
  • Onion Powder
  • Salt & Black Pepper, ground.
  • Hot Pepper Sauce — I use Tabasco, but you can use your favorite hot sauce instead.
  • Cilantro — aka coriander, fresh to garnish.

You can choose to add mustard and candied crunchy bacon pieces to the filling. I skipped that, to simplify the recipe for you, but your deviled eggs will definitely taste better!

Tip: Use pickled Jalapeños for a special flavor twist!

🍴 Serving Ideas

Deviled eggs are quintessential party bites! They make a popular appearance during Easter, but also on other holidays, such as Christmas and New Years.

If you, or your guests, adore spicy hot food, add the Jalapeño infused cream cheese dip and the spiced Avocado Crostini Bites.

Cheese dips and creamy avocado balance out and compliment the chili heat really well.

🍱 Storage

Deviled eggs in general should be consumed quickly. Especially, because they are often left out on a buffet or platter to entertain your guests.

Therefore, keep them for up to 2 days in your fridge, refrigerated.

These don't freeze well at all. Instead, I recommend prepping your jalapeño deviled eggs a few hours or the night before your party.

Lemon juice (or vinegar): I love the fresh, bright flavor of lemon juice in deviled eggs. Dijon mustard: Feel free to add in a bit more or less, depending on how mustardy you like your eggs.

Why put paprika on deviled eggs? ›

Standard deviled eggs are undeniably good, but adding a touch of tomato paste and a generous pinch of smoked paprika makes them a bit more sophisticated. The flavor is gently sweet, forcefully spicy and perfectly smoky.

What happens if you put too much mayo in deviled eggs? ›

Going overboard with the mayo.

But when you're heavy-handed with this ingredient, not only will it overpower the taste of the filling, but it can also make for a loose, runny filling that's tough to pipe into the egg white.

Bringing deviled eggs to a potluck is a no-brainer. They're fit for a crowd, you can make them ahead of time, there are endless flavor options, and there are rarely any left over (though that could be disappointing for some). They're also easy to mess up since they require just the right ratio of ingredients.

How many deviled eggs per person? ›

How many deviled eggs do you need per person? Plan 2 to 3 deviled eggs per person for your get-together. A dozen eggs will make 24 deviled eggs, and that will be enough for 8 to 12 people. If you have leftovers you can store them in the fridge for 24 hours and snack on them the next day.

Why are my deviled eggs runny the next day? ›

It's common for deviled eggs to "sweat" in the fridge, which can make them kinda soggy in a day or two. The paper towels will absorb the extra moisture and keep them fresh much longer! Change the paper towels every other day if you haven't already devoured them by then.

Should you run cold water over eggs after boiling? ›

Leave eggs in the ice bath for 10+ minutes to allow for thorough cooling/easy peeling (you can place them under running cold water instead, but without the cold shock from the ice bath, you may have a harder time peeling, especially if your eggs are farm fresh like ours).

What does vinegar do for eggs? ›

The addition of vinegar to the water is believed to make the peeling job easier. Since acetic acid, which is essentially vinegar, can break down the calcium bicarbonate found in egg shells, it is hypothesized this can aid in an easier peeling process.

Why does vinegar help peel hard-boiled eggs? ›

Adding white vinegar or apple cider vinegar to your pot of water allegedly results in softer, easier-to-peel eggshells. That's because the acid in vinegar dissolves some of the calcium carbonate that makes up the egg's hard exterior.
